Networking event: Sustainable Communities and the Future Shape of Cities
The session brought together four recent research projects on sustainability and urban communities carried out at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Drawing on a wide range of skills and disciplines available at the LSE, the presentation focused on the implications of the research in addressing the challenges posed by complex processes taking place in cities facing rapid urban growth and social and economic change around the world. It highlighted innovative interdisciplinary methodologies necessary to understanding these processes. Through a case study format, the presentation demonstrated tangible means by which a set of core sustainability aims may be achieved in a variety of urban contexts. Case studies looked at Tianjin, Accra, Bucharest and London.
Speakers included Mr Joan Clos, Mayor or Barcelona, Professor Anne Power, Mr Ricky Burdett, Dr Bingqin Li, Mr G Razzu, Ms Catalina Turcu and Ms Darinka Czischke
