Rana is a PhD student at the Social Policy Department. Her research uses the capability approach and participatory methods to explore disadvantaged adolescentsí experiences of living in mixed income communities and how they influence their wellbeing. Rana focuses on areas that used to be dominated by social housing and now turned into mixed-income (tenure) neighbourhoods in London. She plans to involve young people using qualitative participatory methods including photovoice, role playing, drawing, picture collage, neighbourhood resource mapping and peer interviews. Previously she worked as a researcher and policy analyst at a number of international organisations including the UNDP, JPAL and the Population Council. I also have journalism experience covering the Arab Spring uprisings in Egypt, Yemen, Syria and Libya.
