Xavier Jaravel appointed Chairman of the French Council of Economic Advisors

STICERD are delighted to announce that Xavier Jaravel has been appointed Chairman of the French Council of Economic Advisors by the Prime Minister of France.
His work has been published in various journals, including the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and the Review of Economic Studies. Holding a PhD from Harvard University, he served as a financial inspector and chaired the evaluation committee for the "France Relance" plan. In 2021, he received the Best Young Economist Award from the newspaper Le Monde and the Cercle des Économistes, and in 2023, the Economics Book Prize for "Marie Curie Lives in Morbihan. Democratizing Innovation." According to the IDEAS/RePEc 2025 ranking, he is the most cited young academic economist in the world.
Xavier Jaravel succeeds STICERD Director Camille Landais, Chairman of the CAE since November 2022.
