STICERD News:
Oriana Bandiera awarded the 2026 Birgit Grodal Award

Published/Broadcast 11 June 2026

Congratulations to Oriana Bandiera who has been awarded the 2026 Birgit Grodal Award

The Birgit Grodal Award was established by the European Economic Association Council in 2010 to recognise European-based female economists who have made a significant contribution to the Economics profession. The bienial award is named after Birgit Grodal, the first female elected President of the EEA.

The Committee awarded the 2026 Birgit Grodal Award to Oriana Bandiera for her outstanding contributions to economics. They highlight that Oriana Bandiera has produced pathbreaking research in development, labour, and organizational economics, combining conceptual depth, empirical innovation, and policy relevance. Her work has substantially advanced our understanding of how incentives, social interactions, and institutions interact in shaping economic behaviour.
