About this event

The workshop will bring together leading papers on how new technologies, in particular on AI affects productivity growth and economic reallocation. The themes include

innovation and diffusion
changes in job tasks and firm organization
firm boundaries
the role of competition and platforms in shaping economic activity

More broadly, the workshop asks how firms and people cope with and benefit from rapid technological change. New technologies constantly create local, context-specific knowledge inside firms, occupations, and markets and the key question is how economic institutions aggregate and act on that information. By focusing on experimentation, reallocation, and institutional responses to technological change, the speakers will discuss how modern market economies adapt to evolving environments and technologies.

The keynote speaker at the workshop is Chad Jones - STANCO 25 Professor of Economics at Stanford Graduate School of Business. From the summer of 2026 he will be working at Anthropic Institute where he'll continue to research how artificial intelligence could affect the economy.
