Robin Burgess’s European Research Council (ERC) MANANDNATURE project was recently highlighted in a recent report by ERC: Mapping ERC frontier research – Transformative change for a sustainable future (Publications Office of the European Union, 2024).

The report highlighted Robin’s findings – the most relevant outcome of which was to show that polices intended to protect ecosystems can be successful. As Robin highlighted, “to achieve the just green transition, we need to use the full policy arsenal at our disposal. ‘Whatever it takes’, meaning that we should not leave any policy measure off the table. We should be considering a whole range of different measures to confront climate change.”

So far, the report, which features 300 associated projects funded by the ERC over the last decade, has been referenced in two European Commission press releases, presented to the European Parliament (Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety, with representatives of IPBES), and is due to be presented to the European Environment Agency.
