About this event

This is the Atkinson Lecture 2025 with Elhanan Helpman who will be speaking on the future of foreign trade.

Foreign trade has expanded rapidly, playing a vital role in economic development around the world. However, since the pandemic, global value chains have faced increasing scrutiny, with their effectiveness being called into question. Furthermore, the liberal international economic order that emerged after World War II is encountering growing challenges, resulting in greater international fragmentation and the rise of protectionist policies. This lecture will examine these trends and assess their potential impact on future economic developments.
