About this event
In this paper I test for positive productivity spillovers in academia by studying the impact of the introduction of performance related pay in German academia on matching assortativeness. In particular, I exploit the fact that the introduction of performance pay increases the returns to matching assortatively on productivity if there are productivity spillovers. I show that higher ranked departments are able to hire better academics after the reform, and present evidence that this is driven by positive spillover effects.
STICERD Work in Progress seminars are held on Fridays in term time at 13:00-14:00, ONLINE, unless specified otherwise.
Seminar organisers: Philip Barteska and Alix Bonargent
