Biography

Eric is a visiting PhD student , studying at the University of Virginia. He considers how the spread of ideas can alter the course of political events, and one of his research projects involves investigating the consequences of exposing British colonial bureaucrats to Malthusian Population Theory. He is also interested to understand when and how past events can determine the modern spatial distribution of economic activity, and working on another project to test for external economies and path dependence in the specialization of cotton production in the nineteenth century.
