Biography
Having come into Economics from a background in Mathematics and Statistics, my early research interests were in Applied Econometrics. Then, as a result of teaching courses in Applied Econometrics for the British Council in Brazil, Colombia and Peru, an unintended consequence was an interest in Urban Poverty in Latin America and research on the Urban Informal Sector and, more generally, Informal Economic Activity. A final deviation was to develop an interest in The History of Economics, in particular, the History of Economics at LSE, which has been the area of my research since the 1990s.
