Biography

Rana is an ESRC postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Public Policy Research, King’s College London. Her fellowship builds on her PhD thesis which explored the impact of social housing regeneration on the wellbeing of young people from lower-income backgrounds. Her doctoral research used the capability approach and participatory methods to foreground young people’s experiences of restructuring their social housing estates into mixed-income communities. Before joining King’s, Rana completed her PhD at the London School of Economics' Social Policy Department, after which she was a research fellow at the University of Nottingham’s Rights Lab. Rana's past research examined the role of place, class, gender and ethnicity on a range of child and youth wellbeing outcomes, including experiences of exploitation, citizenship and access to education and employment.
