Biography
Frances McGinnity is an Associate Research Professor at the Economic and Social Research Institute in Dublin and has been a Visiting Senior Fellow at CASE since September 2021. Dr McGinnity's core research interests are in equality and discrimination, migrant integration, childcare and child development, work-life balance and labour market processes, in Ireland and from a comparative perspective. Most of her research uses quantitative data and advanced statistical techniques: she has also designed surveys and conducted a number of experiments, qualitative interviews and consultations. Her research has been published in reports and in academic books and journals, and findings presented to policy committees, NGOs and communicated in print, broadcast and social media. Much of her research is policy focused and she frequently engages with policymakers. Dr McGinnity has recently been involved in four research reports comparing Ireland and Northern Ireland and in October 2024 presented findings to a joint parliamentary committee at Stormont.
