About this event
Based on their new book, Austrian Economics: An Introduction, Christopher Coyne and Abigail Hall discuss the core ideas of the Austrian school of economics as an active approach to understanding markets, institutions, and social coordination.
The topics they discuss include the market process, the role of prices as guides to dispersed knowledge, competition as discovery, and the limits of centralized planning and technocratic control. Coyne and Hall will discuss the contributions of thinkers such as Carl Menger, Ludwig von Mises, and Friedrich Hayek. Far from being a historical artifact, the Austrian tradition remains a fruitful vein of inquiry for scholars, informing many contemporary economic topics and policy issues.
