About this event

Abigail McKnight and Kerris Cooper present findings from a forthcoming paper on employment policies since 2015. The paper begins with the inheritance from the Coalition government before outlining the policy aims in relation to employment, as specified in the three Conservative manifestos during this period. The rest of the paper evaluates the employment policies that came into effect, including the Work and Health Programme. Following the SPDO policy evaluation framework the paper considers spending, inputs and outputs, and evidence of employment outcomes, including wider labour market trends, highlighting how different groups have fared and relating this back to the government’s policy aims. This work is part of the Social Policies and Distributional Outcomes (SPDO) research programme funded by Nuffield Foundation.
