I am a PhD student at the Social Policy Department. My research uses the capability approach and participatory methods to explore disadvantaged adolescentsí experiences of living in mixed income communities and how they influence their wellbeing. I focus on areas that used to be dominated by social housing and now turned into mixed-income (tenure) neighbourhoods in London. I plan to involve young people using qualitative participatory methods including photovoice, role playing, drawing, picture collage, neighbourhood resource mapping and peer interviews. Previously I worked as a researcher and policy analyst at a number of international organisations including the UNDP, JPAL and the Population Council. I also have journalism experience covering the Arab Spring uprisings in Egypt, Yemen, Syria and Libya.
