Biography

Ana is a CASE affiliate since 2025 and a Social Policy PhD student with a research focus on equity in social care for children. Her research is developing an account of care equity and examining wellbeing for children with disabilities and unpaid family carers in Mexico through an inequality lens. She is using quantitative and qualitative methods, and the capabilities approach as the main theoretical framework. Before starting her PhD, she worked at the Economic Policy Research Institute, where she led global research for UNICEF on child poverty reduction and universal child benefits. She conducted social protection research for organisations including the African Development Bank, Van Leer Foundation and UN-DESA.
