This lecture series contains the core model of state capacity and provides a technical summary of all the material in the book.
Lecture 1: Overview, The Core Model of State Capacity, Partial Correlations: we outline the core model with fiscal and legal capacity and investigate some basic correlations in support of our theory.
Lecture 2: Political Violence, Putting Pieces Together: the model is extended to endogenize political violence and the arising typology of states is illustrated.
Lecture 3: Development Assistance, Political Reform, Lessons Learned: we use the model to get policy implication for development aid and political reform. Here we also outline the construction of the pillars of prosperity index.
