The Programme on Cohesive Capitalism is inviting applications from LSE PhD students for grants of up to £5,000 to support research that contributes to the Programme's mission of developing a fairer, more inclusive and cohesive economy and society.
Grants may support early-stage or exploratory research, extensions of existing work, or small events and workshops. Funding can be used to cover research-related expenses such as purchasing or digitising data, survey or fieldwork costs, or hourly paid research assistance. Projects should align with one or more of the core themes of the Programme, including predistribution and inclusive growth; the nature and value of good work; community, care and social cohesion; deliberation democracy, and legitimacy; innovation and technological change; alternative economic paradigms. Applications are welcome from any discipline, though we particularly encourage work in economics, political science, and political philosophy. Interdisciplinary approaches are encouraged but not required.
Grant recipients will be warmly invited and expected to contribute to the Programme's intellectual community, including participation in the monthly seminar series.
Full guidance on making an application can be found here.
The deadline for applications is 07 February 2026 and applicants can expect to hear the outcome of their application in March 2026.
Please note that each person can only submit one application in a given round.
STICERD requires successful applicants to comply with the LSE's Research Ethics Policy. Submitting a copy of the self-certification or ethical approval to STICERD is required previous to the disbursement of any funds. Please read the Guidance on LSE research ethics, code of research conduct, and training.
