Consumption Project

Consumption and savings decisions by households are fundamental to the understanding of a wide range of economic and social science questions. But serious data constraints are still limiting our ability to learn about the distribution and dynamics of consumption across individuals and over time.

The consumption project aims at providing new perspectives on the distribution and dynamics of household consumption and pursues a new promising avenue of research exploiting the increasing access to rich, administrative data to construct comprehensive and universal measures of consumption expenditures.

Because computing these measures from registry data requires lots of effort and a careful implementation, the consumption project also aims at being an open access platform among all interested researchers for sharing best practices, programs and data documentation.
